On Saturday our day started at the busy airport at 4am. Some of the host parents graciously picked us up at the Charleroi airport, the warm welcome from them set a positive tone for the day. After the two-hour long ride, we regrouped at the school, and divided – half the group made their way to Waregem, engaging in an entertaining afternoon of bowling and exploring the city, while the others went home with their hosts. I luckily had a more relaxing beach experience. Despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions, we took a walk on the seaside. It was a breath of fresh air, both literally and figuratively. The beauty of the beach, however, was not dismissed. Later in the day, my host family and I dined at a delightful Italian restaurant, providing a perfect opportunity to get to know each other. Early in the evening some have already opted to sleep, cutting the day short, me included. On reflection, this day was a perfect mix of adventure and entertainment.
